Adaptive Yoga

Adaptive Yoga is designed for students living with chronic illness, physical conditions or mobility issues such as Multiple Sclerosis, visual impairment, stroke recovery, scoliosis, Cerebral Palsy, severe arthritis and certain post-surgery situations, to name a few! If this sounds like you, this Adaptive Yoga class will make yoga accessible for you, so that you may enjoy the many healing benefits and effects of yoga.

Most of the yoga practice is done on an armless chair (or in a wheelchair or scooter, as the case may be), or on the floor, or a combination of both, depending on your ability.

Classes will include a variety of yoga poses using props as needed with individualized instruction to help you find your unique expression of the pose. You will learn breathing techniques and how to coordinate your movements to your breath, as well as how to use the breath to calm your mind and release stress and anxiety, both in and out of yoga class. Classes move at a leisurely pace that allows enough time for those who need more time to transition in and out of poses.

Pre-Covid, I was offering the Adaptive Yoga classes at Goodwill Fitness & Technology Center in Santa Ana, CA. The Center was sold in 2020 to another entity, so my Adaptive Yoga classes will only be offered via Zoom for the foreseeable future. While we no longer have the beautiful facility with all the benches and props, and the hands-on assistance from me, the transition to Zoom has been successful for many of my students and I encourage you to give it a try.

You may also contact me if you would like to schedule private or small group sessions for Adaptive Yoga.
